Daily Devotional: Worry is like a rocking chair

1 Peter 5:7 AMP for August 18, 2009

~Casting the whole of your cave-all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and fall all-on Him; for He cares for you affectionately, and cares about you watchfully.~

“Worry is like a rocking chair: It gives you something to do, but doesn’t get  you anywhere!”

B-WOR-BB People who continually worry about every detail of their lives are like a patient in a mental hospital who stood with her ear pressed against the wall.

“What are you doing?” an attendant asked with curiosity.

“Shhhh,” the woman whispered, beckoning to the attendant to join her a the wall.

The attendant pressed her ear to the wall and stood there for several moments listening intently. “I can’t hear anything,” she said

“No,” the patient replied with a furrowed brow. “It’s been like that all day!’”

Some worry about what might be said. Others worry about what hasn’t been said. Some worry about what might happen. Others worry about hasn’t happened which should have happened by now. Others worry about their future while others fret over the consequences of their past.

We were created to live abundant lives in our mind, our body, and our spirit. Like a flower we were meant to blossom, not whither on the vine. Put Jesus in charge of your worries today and walk in newness of life!
