11 The heavens are yours, and yours also the earth;
you founded the world and all that is in it.
12 You created the north and the south;
Tabor and Hermon sing for joy at your name.
In Genesis, the book of “beginnings”, the first revelation God gave us of himself was that he is a creative artist. The vivid descriptions found in the last book of Scripture, the book of Revelation, gloriously affirm that God is the creative personality behind all things. Many times throughout the Bible creativity is recognized as an expression of his nature.
God’s creativity can be seen in the color of a sunset, the majesty of a rugged mountain range, the awesome power of a fast-flowing river, the delicate shape of a flower or the exceptional design of the human body. The world of nature, although separate from its Creator, reveals the nature and character of the original artist.
You may never have thought of God as the ‘original artist’ before. With this understanding in mind, ask God to reveal himself to you in new and fresh ways through his creation. Take a walk among the trees and flowers, sit and meditate by a stream or a mountain, look closely at yourself in the mirror.
