Daily Devotional: God’s power in everyday life

Deuteronomy 29:5

~During the forty years that I led you through the desert, your clothes did not wear out, nor did the sandals on your feet.~

Easy_crock_pot_beef_stew A Christian community on a farm in Australia prepared Sunday lunch—a pot of stew sufficient only for the 12 of them. That day 24 guests arrived unexpectedly, all hungry and hoping for a good meal. Led by the Holy Spirit, the community prayed over the pot. All were willing to defer to their guests and fast the meal. But that wasn’t necessary. That little pot served all 36 of them, and there were leftovers!

The miraculous power of the Holy Spirit will respond to to the everyday needs of those who love and obey God. He can help us recall facts we’ve learned for a college exam; lead us to call a hurting friend at just the right time; give specific guidance about when to apply for a job; or even keep our shoes and clothes from wearing out! No detail in life is too small to ask for God.

As you walk through the routine of this day, talk with God and trust him to intervene in even the smallest of details.
